The Victoria Sketch Club (VSC) is celebrating its 111th year, the oldest art group in continuous operation in Western Canada. Founded in 1909, the VSC was formerly named Island Art and Craft Society and in 1952 was renamed the Victoria Sketch Club.
The club’s past members have included many esteemed artists including Emily Carr, Jack Shadbolt, Max Maynard, Samuel Maclure, and Ted Harrison. Continuing the tradition of excellence, the Club membership today includes many fine artists, some with international followings. Current members, several of whom are prize-winning members of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), produce outstanding works of art, many of which are hanging in galleries and private collections throughout Victoria and indeed much farther afield. To view older works of some of the members go to the VSC website: www.victoriasketchclub.ca and follow the tabs for contacts and members. Note: the paintings illustrated are not previews of works offered in the upcoming 2020 Art Show.
Victoria Sketch Club is delighted to announce that The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia will be on hand to open our 111th Annual Members Art Show & Sale, March 17, 2020.
