Joseph E.L. (Larry) Gollner OMM CD

Larry hails from Vancouver.  He joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry [PPCLI] as a soldier in 1956 and served until 1993, retiring as a Brigadier General. After leaving the Army, Larry settled in Victoria, went into business, and became a community volunteer. He is the Patron of the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association, Vice Patron of the PPCLI Association, a member of the Veteran’s Ombudsman’s Advisory Council, and President of the Greater Victoria Afghanistan Memorial Project Society.

Larry’s relationship with the Victoria Sketch Club [VSC] began in
1993. He was made an Honorary Member in 2004 and is currently the President of the VSC.  Larry, has always enjoyed art and Christine, his wife and a fine artist in her own right, encouraged him to paint. He enjoys the immediacy of watercolours, the discipline of abstraction, and the freedom of impressionist painting.
