Mary Brackenbury

I’ve always been a leisure painter, but waited for early retirement from teaching to take formal training at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

My style has changed over the years, as happens with many artists.  Eventually, a measure of abstraction crept into my work. My family knows I’ve never allowed reality to interfere with my rich hold on fantasy. The result will be obvious to the viewer of my work!

My influences (and heroes) have been, and remain Emily Carr, Lauren Harris and Ted Harrison.  My work is represented at the University of Alberta as well as in private collections in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta.

Following are a few recent samples of my work:
A Happy Warrior
It's A Jungle Out There

The Midnight Tree
