IN THE NEWS
Bookmarks Contest for the 2019 Show
Thank you all for your terrific responses to the quest for one piece of your art for our advertising. We were overwhelmed with so MANY great art pieces and it was difficult to choose one for the poster and more for the bookmarks; this year we increased that coverage from 10 to 15 individual works (a good problem to have!). The winner of the Poster contest for the VSC 2019 show is Ann Redford Nolte.  CONGRATULATIONS!

The other 15 successful entries were reviewed and chosen by Bonny and Rand.   MANY reasons were the deciding factors in this task, mainly the quality of the work, ability to look good shrunk with visual impact, shape orientation for the bookmarks and to portray the VARIETY of VSC artists’ abilities and styes.

In alphabetical order, we congratulate:

Anne Bowen
Larry Gollner
Rand Harrison
Joan Head
Patricia Hindmarch-Watson
Caroline Hunter
Virginia Hutzuliak
Frances Kerridge
Peter Marcetta
Terry McBride
Bonita Myers
Maureen Ness
Agnes Oosterhof
Niramon Prudatorn
Sharon Wareing

Thank you ALL for your input and the use of your art!

Larry Gollner in Oak Bay News article of November 9.
Kudos to you, Larry!
Bonny Myers informs us:
A wonderful personal PR opportunity has opened up to all local artists to havebanners made depicting your art, to be hung along OAK BAY AVENUE.
This is from Heather Leary whom I met on the Oak Bay Avenue Art Walk on Thursday evening, who is in charge of the banners that line OB Avenue. She said they should ideally be vertical in direction or able to be cropped for reproduction. They are done for the 4 seasons and she is beginning with the Spring, so if you are interested consider these things and contact Heather directly:
hleary@shaw.ca

Heather says it is not limited to, but preference would be given in the event of a tie to an OB resident artist. She is interested in hearing from our club members. Her committee will choose one piece from all the entries for the banners.

She wrote to me:
"What I am wondering is if Oak Bay artists would be interested in licensing a piece for us to use as the art on the banners that line Oak Bay Avenue. We print four seasons so would be looking for spring first with summer winter and fall to come later.
As we do not have the kind of budget that would allow us to commission a piece, we would be interested in reproducing a piece that is already created.
Hoping you can gauge if there is an interest in this and hopefully we can proceed with the spring printing."
Thanks very much,
Heather
